Susan’s love for design moved her to return to school after successfully raising her two daughters. She received an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Gwinnett Technical College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Westwood College. While going to school, she maintained a 4.0 grade point average, was a Goal Nominee and was awarded the “Golden Tape Measure Award”. She then went on to start her own interior design company, Susan Newberry Designs, before entering the hospitality field, where she was design manager for a local design and purchasing firm.  Susan recently went back to school and received her Master's Degree in Higher Education at Kaplan University.

Today Susan works as an interior designer and is a full time instructor at Bauder College in Atlanta for both the interior and fashion design departments.  She has previously taught at Georgia Perimeter College, where she was co-advisor to the Interior Decorating Certificate Program; the Vanguard School of Interior Design; and Gwinnett Technical College, where she was president of the Interiors Advisory Committee. Classes taught include Textiles, Faux Finishing, Color Theory, Computer Rendering, History of Design, Kitchen and Bath Design, Business Practices for Interior Designers, and Window Coverings.

Susan loves passing on her knowledge of interior design to new and eager students. Susan lives in Duluth, Georgia. She has two married daughters, a four year old granddaughter and a eight-year-old grandson.
